The Joto-Vent and the Architectural Covering (or the Insect Prevention Strip with the Z-Covering) are always required and meet the minimum opening requirement of 1/8-inch (3.2 mm) in IRC’s Section R408.2.
- The 2 x 6 Joto-Vent is twice as thick as the 1 x 6 Joto-Vent. The Net-Free Ventilation Area (NFVA) is 11.03 in²/ft for the 2 x 6 Joto-Vent and 4.81 in²/ft for the 1 x 6 Joto-Vent.
- The Insect Prevention Strip with the Z-Covering is an alternative of the Architectural Covering that helps to minimize the impact on the aesthetic appearance with its smaller protruding dimensions. Please use the Z-Covering or similar material to prevent the Joto-Vent from direct sunlight and rainwater getting into the crawl space.
- The Z-Covering is compatible with either the 2 x 6 or 1 x 6 Insect Prevention Strip.
- The Airtight Joto-Vent is used to block the air when the crawl space is built next to the garage to eliminate contaminated air flow into the crawl space, and only available with the 1 x 6 Joto-Vent.
The Joto-Vent is made by molding a composite material (JC) from calcium carbonate and polyolefin resin. 2 x 6 Joto-Vent “JVS-26CV” is for 2 x 6 and 2 x 8 stud walls. The net-free ventilation opening area is 33.09 sq.in/pc (11.03 sq.in/lf).
