3 Examples of Installation With and Without Joto-Vent.
Joto-Vent is designed to provide continuous ventilation around the entire foundation. However, in some cases – such as under porches or patios where the vent is unnecessary, under heavy load-bearing posts, or for cost adjustments – there may be sections where Joto-Vent will not be installed. Below are several practical examples for handling these conditions.

1) Raise the foundation by 1-1/2″
By lifting the foundation 1-1/2” and using a pressure-treated sill plate, you can maintain the same wall height without altering the overall design.

2) Double the sill plate

Since the JVS-26CV has a height of 1-1/2”, you can stack two sill plates where ventilation is not required to match the height of adjacent Joto-Vent areas.
3) Under heavy-load columns or steel posts
In cases where the column load exceeds the structural capacity of Joto-Vent, use a “post-bearing” detail to ensure sufficient load transfer without compromising structural integrity.

Installation Notes in all cases:

Always use with our Insect Prevention Strip or Architectural Covering products to prevent insects from entering the crawl space.
